Ramen Goes Straight to Hinata's...

So I feel the need to rant a little bit about this piece.

For those of you who might not know, I post frequently to deviantart.  Two weeks ago I placed a query to the deviantart team about a promotional idea to ask whether or not it violated any of DA's policies.  The policies spoke to related issues, but were not specific to my idea, so the need to ask the team a question made sense to me.  After all, I appreciate DA's website and community, so I thought it would be the responsible thing to do to ask DA staff before acting.  It would be a pain in everybody's ass to create a problem that could be avoided to begin with.

Two days ago I posted this pic to DA.  The very next day it gets taken down for violating one of DA's policies.

I still have not heard back from the question I asked them two weeks ago.

Also, it miffs me a bit that the reason this pic was taken down was that it supposedly sexualizes a minor.  First, I have no idea what Hinata's age is.  I know I can look it up in an instant, but I don't really care to know.  The reason I don't care to know is that every character I draw is depicted as an adult.  Even if Hinata is 17 or whatever in Naurto Shippuden, I would only depict her as above the age of 18, as she's pictured here.

Now, I realize that I have to give DA a break.  At least a bit of a break.  Because I did not state anywhere in the pic or the description that Hinata is depicted as a legal adult.  However, they apparently make it their business to know the ages of popular fictional characters, and go around deleting the artwork of people who are ignorant of their ages.

What it really comes down to is that I'm mildly offended at the implication that I'm creating pornography with characters who are minors, when in fact I make it a point NOT to do that.  Ever.  I have a special distaste for drawings that depict nubile characters who are clearly minors in a sexual manner.  I've seen hundreds of these pics on DA, and they will never be taken down because they don't violate the letter of their policy, even though they are violating the intent of those policies.

But the good news is that this rant has allowed me to vent my feelings, and I am no longer mildly offended.  I do feel a little bad for the folks on DA who will miss out on this pic who might have enjoyed it.

On a side note, I want you to be sure to arm yourself with at least two gummy bears at all times.
